AGAINST TOBACCO ADVERTISING IN HUNGARY

The Economical Advertising Activity.)
The most important statements of Law No. I. of 2001 (extracts):
- Publication of tobacco advertising is prohibited.
- Publication of “indirect” tobacco advertising is prohibited too.
- It isn’t forbidden:
- the prospectus of tobacco products in tobacco-shops.
- the advertising in foreign press-matters which are not imprinted in Hungary.
- The provisions of Law comes into force 1 July 2001; regarding the open-air posters and billboards 1 January 2002.
- The Minister of Economy in agreement with the Minister of Health -- concerning an unusual event (e.g. Formula 1), with stipulations, at the request of the authorities -- may grant an exemption from prohibitions. - The Minister of Economy specifies the rules of exemptions.
